Day 1 Arrive Cape Town
Arrive in Cape Town at any time.
Day 2 Gariep River (B,L,D)
Travelling past large plantations of Rooibos tea and through dry and remote portions of South Africa. Set up camp at scenic Gariep River, the natural border between South Africa and Namibia.
Day 3 Fish River Canyon (B,L,D)
Journey to Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, and take in the majestic beauty of the canyon, arguably the second largest in the world. Enjoy some time in the area, and even marvel at a spectacular sunset slip over the canyon's rim.
Day 4-5 Namib Desert (2B,2L,2D)
Head towards the incomparable Sossusvlei, a clay pan enclosed by the world’s largest sand dunes. Spend a full day exploring the dunes, and the natural wonders of this bizarre environment. Here you will really feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere, or even on another planet!
Day 6-7 Swakopmund (B,L)
Today you will really get a feeling for the Namib Desert, as you cross this stark region en route to the west coast of Namibia. You can explore the historical town of Swakopmund, the surrounding lunar landscape, and try some of the numerous activities available, such as sand boarding or a dolphin cruise.
Day 8 Damaraland (B,L,D)
Travel up the Skeleton Coast to the Cape Cross seal colony for some marine wildlife viewing, then continue through the beautiful desert landscapes as we begin moving north into the stony desert landscapes into Damaraland.
Day 9-10 Etosha National Park (2B,2L,2D)
Etosha in wambo means "the great white place of dry water". As one of Africa’s highlights, the Etosha National Park offers a variety of wildlife and phenomenal natural beauty. Explore the pans and the park on game drives, with excellent opportunities to spot lion, giraffe, elephant, rhino, and herds of antelope.
Day 11 Waterberg Plateau Game Park (B,L,D)
Enjoy one last morning game drive in search of the Etosha's incredible wildlife, and begin moving south to Waterberg Plateau Game Park. Take a scenic forest walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Day 12 Windhoek (B)
Journey through the Namibian countryside to Windhoek, where we stay in a hotel to have a good shower and a break from camping.
Day 13 Kalahari (B,L,D)
Heading east, cross into Botswana and travel to Ghanzi in the Kalahari Desert region. Take a walk with a local San Bushman to learn fascinating wilderness survival skills.
Day 14 Maun (B,L,D)
Head to Maun where the Okavango Delta beckons to be explored. Pick up any supplies and prepare for your unforgettable 2 night/3 day journey deep into into the "Delta".
Day 15-16 Okavango Delta (2B,2L,2D)
The Okavango Delta Excursion is an experience not to be missed. While based at a bush camp within the world's largest inland delta, enjoy game walks and traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions, marveling at the wide variety of wildlife that calls the delta their home. This is truly an African experience!
Day 17 Gweta (B,L,D)
Wake up to the African sun rising over the beauty of the Delta. Today we stop in Maun, and continue to the village of Gweta, located near bizarre salt pans of Makgadikgadi. You will get a feeling of the local environment here as you camp under ancient Baobab trees.
Day 18 Chobe River (B,L,D)
Journey to the Chobe River, your base for a visit to Chobe National Park, home to one of the largest elephant populations in Southern Africa. The best way to appreciate Botswana's largest national park and its thousands of resident elephants, crocodiles, and hippos, is on an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River. You may also choose to embark on a game drive in search of lions, antelope, and of course elephants.
Day 19-20 Livingstone, Zambia (2B,L,D)
With time for a morning game drive before departing, cross the mighty Zambezi River by ferry and enter Zambia. Spend the next day exploring the breathtaking Victoria Falls, a natural wonder of the world. Adventure activities abound - go white-water rafting or canoeing on Zambezi, take an elephant-back safari, bungy jump over the Zambezi River, or even fly over the falls for some fantastic views in a "micro-light", a motorized han-glider.
Day 21 Katima Mulilo (B,L,D)
Today we depart the Livingstone area, and travel overland through Zambia, crossing into the Caprivi Strip region of neighboring Namibia, home to 450 animal species that travel freely across the border from Chobe National Park in Botswana.
Day 22-23 Bagani (2B,2L,2D)
Continue through the Caprivi Strip to Ngepi camp on the Okavango River. Along the way keep an eye out for any elephants who call the "strip" home. Cruise down the Okavango River in search of hippos, and other river life!!
Day 24 Maun (B,L,D)
Cross into Botswana and journey along the western part of the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta, to the regional capital of Maun. Take the optional flight with some fantastic views high over the Delta, searching for antelope, elephant, and wildebeests!!
Day 25 Khama Rhino Sanctuary (B,L,D)
Journey to Serowe, where we will visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a community based wildlife project created to assist in saving the endangered Rhino, and restore the area to is previous natural state.
Day 26-27 Pilanesberg Game Reserve (2B,2L,D)
Travel to Pilanesberg (National Park) Game Reserve, the crater of an extinct volcano, and home to Africa's Big 5. Take part in one of the optional night drives.
Day 28 Johannesburg (B,L)
Explore Johannesburg, the economic heart of South Africa and the largest city.
Day 29 Blyde River Canyon (B,L,D)
Head east towards Mpumalanga through a fascinating landscape complete with mountains, panoramic passes, valleys and waterfalls in beautiful forests. Keep your eyes open for some of Africa's raptors, the crowned eagle, snake eagle, falcons and kites.
Day 30-31 Kruger National Park (2B,2L,2D)
The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Spot the "Big 5", and many other animals in one of Africa’s greatest wildlife areas. Enjoy two days of game viewing where you will have a chance to search out some incredible animals while enjoying the wonderful natural surroundings of the Kruger National Park.
Day 32 Marracuene (B,L,D)
Leave the wildlife of Kruger behind us, and enter into Mozambique, a colourful, vibrant, fascinating country. The journey takes us past Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, to a stop in Marracuene - a popular stop where you can take a canoe ride, relax by the pool, or enjoy the forested scenery of the area.
Day 33-35 Inhambane (3B,3L,3D)
Travel north to a beautiful coastal area near the town of Inhambane, where our campsite is on top of the sand dunes with spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. Take the some time to discover the delights of this wonderful Indian Ocean beach by walking the dunes, going horseback riding, taking a boat cruise, or playing in the rolling surf. Sea lovers can enjoy snorkelling or diving at one of the few coral reefs, while seafood lovers will find themselves to be in paradise.
Day 36 Maputo (B,L)
Notice the definite Latin flare to the city of approximately two million people, as Maputo openly embraces it’s Latin heritage. There is a unique feel to this city, with its popular seafront, colonial architecture, and colourful jacaranda trees, Maputo has style.
Day 37-38 Kingdom of Swaziland (2B,2L,2D)
The mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland, lead by King Mswati III, is one of three monarchies in Africa. Here explore Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, which is situated in the Swaziland’s “Valley of Heaven”, the Ezulwini Vallley. Here we visit a Swazi village to dive into the culture and spend the evenings in traditional beehive huts, and in your free time take the opportunity to go horse riding, mountain biking, trailing, or game viewing.
Days 39-40 Zululand (2B,2L,2D)
Today we re-enter South Africa into one of its most diverse regions, and stay in the St. Lucia area near the coast, where you may take optional boat trip on the estuary or go for a horse ride on the beach. On day 40, you can visit the Umfolozi Game Reserve which is a safe haven for both the white and black rhino, and as well lions, buffalo, elephant, and leopard.
Day 41 Durban (B,L)
Spend most of the day travelling the coast to Durban. Explore the beach and dive into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean just out the front door of our guest house.
Day 42-43 Coffee Bay (2B,2L,2D)
South from Durban, travel into the heartland of the Xhosa people, and to Coffee Bay, a paradise on a large stretch of Indian Ocean coast referred to as the Wild Coast. Here you will have a full day to explore the dramatic scenery of the rocky beaches, hidden lagoons, and coastal cliffs. Try your luck at surfing the waves, scuba diving, horse riding, or hiking one of the various nature trails in the rolling green hills.
Day 44-45 Hogsback (2B,2L,2D)
The Hogsback mountains, in the Eastern Cape, are a part of the Amatola mountain range. The mountains are an ideal location to relax and soak up the scenery. Spend two days hiking along the many trails in the area, rock climbing or abseiling the many cliffs, or just relaxing by the garden at the hotel.
Day 46 Addo Elephant National Park (B,L,D)
Today we descend from the mountains of the Hogback area and cross many unique valleys as we continue on to the Addo Elephant National Park, a unique wildlife area. Although famous for the Addo elephants, this park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, and we embark on an afternoon game drive in search of the resident elephants, black rhino, lion, buffalo and even leopard.
Day 47-48 Tsitsikamma (2B,2L,2D)
Indigenous Tsitsikamma forests surround the campsite in the village of Storms River. Optional Activities in the area include hiking a portion of the Otter Trail or along the coastline, abseiling, scuba diving, snorkeling, boat rides, canoeing, whale watching, or even the world’s highest bungee jump. On Day 48, we’ll visit the breathtaking Tsitsikamma National Park for nature walks along the rugged coastline.
Day 49 Outdshoorn (B,L,D)
After visiting "The Heads" in Knysna, a town nestled on a tranquil lagoon on the coast, we take a scenic drive to travel over the Outeniqua Mountains into the area known as Klein Karoo (“Little Karoo”), where we make the quiet town of Oudtshoorn our base. In the late afternoon, we’ll visit the interesting Cango Caves.
Day 50 Stellenbosch (B,L)
Our journey takes us further west to quaint and beautiful Stellenbosch, the oldest town in South Africa. We’ll get settled at our camp and continue to explore the wine farms and vineyards to get a taste of the area, of course of its outstanding wines.
Day 51 Cape Town (B)
Visit the famous, beautiful, and cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. Enjoy some free time to explore the historic center and its museums, visit Robben Island, climb the prominent Table Mountain, take in some local theatre, or just relax on the beach and enjoy the Cape's sunshine.
