Experience the medieval villages, vibrant cities and authentic culture of Catalunya, culminating in a hiking excursion to the remote Nuria Valley. For those with limited time, this 8-day hiking adventure is an ideal way to get to know this region of Spain, known for its dense forests, rolling hills, dormant volcanoes and stark cliff faces.

Day 1 Arrive Barcelona

Arrive in Barcelona at any time.

Day 2 Girona

A short bus or train ride brings us to Girona where we have a guided walking tour of the city.

Day 3-4 Olot

Begin your journey with a morning train and bus ride from the coast to the Garrotxa National Park area and the historic town of Olot. Spend the afternoon at leisure discovering this authentic Spanish village. Enjoy an optional hike to one of the park’s many extinct volcanoes and visit the nearby village of Santa Pau for a journey back in time.

Day 5-6 Vall de Nuria

Visit the remote Vall de Nuria by train and spend two days relaxing and hiking — at your own pace — in this picturesque area, deep in the Pyrenees mountains close to the French border.

Day 7 Barcelona

Return to Barcelona by train. The afternoon is free to spend one last day exploring the cultural capital of Spain and to enjoy a farewell dinner with your newfound friends.
